Meyerland PVA Magnet Program
Welcome to Meyerland Performing and Visual Arts Middle School (MPVA), the premier middle school magnet for the performing and visual arts in HISD since 1985.
All departments have a storied history full of city, state, and national honors; as well as producing a diverse and accomplished group of artists and scholars who enrich our world. We offer intense training to our students who can specialize in any of the eleven areas below. Our young learners, after three years of being pushed to explore their potential by skilled directors and conductors, are routinely accepted to the most prestigious and decorated high schools in the Houston area and beyond.
To be accepted as a magnet student at Meyerland Middle School, applicants must audition and qualify in two fine arts areas. This process allows students to showcase their artistic strengths and discover the program that best aligns with their talents. Auditions are designed to be friendly, supportive, and focused on potential rather than perfection. Whether students sing, dance, play an instrument, act, write, or create visual art, the audition experience gives them an opportunity to shine and begin their Meyerland journey with confidence.
