Beginning Theatre: Students will learn proper physical and vocal techniques used by professional actors. They will also learn the foundations of acting and terminology. Other units will include ensemble building, tableau, pantomime, monologue, scene work, script analysis, stage directions/blocking, what makes theatre (history), improvisation, and more. Students will also attend a live theatrical performance. Studies will culminate in a class performance/ showcase that all students in the class are expected to be a part of. There will be a class performance at some point in the spring that all students in the class will be a part of. More information will be forthcoming during the year, and dates will be posted in CANVAS and through the Booster outreach ASAP. Students will have a few after school rehearsals in preparation for the show (along with technical theatre students).
Intermediate Theatre: Students will continue to develop proper physical and vocal techniques used by professional actors. They will also build upon the foundations of acting and terminology. Other units will include ensemble building, mask work, playwriting, devising, theatre history, monologue/scene work, improvisation, script analysis, and what makes theatre (history). Students will also attend a live theatrical performance. There will be a class performance at some point in the spring that all students in the class will be a part of. More information will be forthcoming during the year, and dates will be posted in CANVAS and through the Booster outreach ASAP. Students will have a few afterschool rehearsals in preparation for the show (along with technical theatre students).
Advanced (UIL) Theatre: Students in this production-based class will continue to develop proper physical/vocal techniques. They will focus on ensemble building, growing in the foundations of acting, rehearsal/performance for UIL OAP in November, monologue/scene work, improvisation, rehearsal/performance for Spring showcase, and more. Students will also attend a live theatrical performance. UIL OAP will require after school rehearsals. There may be some Saturday rehearsals or clinics as we get closer to the actual date. A separate calendar will be sent to parents as competition dates and specifics are determined. All students in the class are expected to be in the competition. Students must be academically eligible to participate in UIL OAP.
